TYPOLOGY: URBAN ART INSTALLATION
LOCATION: GUN PARK, OPPOSITE PUBLIC GARDEN/ TELANGANA STATE ASSEMBLY, HYDERABAD, TELANGANA, INDIA
EVENT: HYDERABAD DESIGN WEEK
YEAR: 2019
The Peacock was selected from Fractals Workshop 23.3: Collective Intelligence for fabrication in full scale as an urban installation for the city of Hyderabad. It was designed by GSV Monica, N Megha Shravani, P Neha and T Ruchita, students of architecture at CSIIT SAP.
A series of Fractals Workshops at different schools of design and architecture in Hyderabad was conducted leading up to Hyderabad Design Week and the 31st World Design Assembly. Each workshop was followed by a public exhibition of the student work that was open to all and free to attend. Selected designs from each workshop were exhibited at the World Design Assembly on 11-12 October 2019. Further, in the spirit of Humanizing Design and crowdsourcing the design process, one design was selected for fabrication at real scale. Students worked alongside fabricators, guiding them and learning from them in a hands-on, collaborative design-build effort towards a public installation for the city of Hyderabad. This installation was made possible by the support of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Government of Telangana, as well as CSIIT School of Architecture & Planning.
