The @fractalsworkshop is a generative design, computation and design research workshop conceived by @takbirfatima, that combines logic, geometry, natural systems and structure. #Repost from @designaware #Repost @wadeindiaasia #Remix from @takbirfatima FLOCK at @wadeindiaasia #NewDelhi FLOCK at @wadeindiaasia #NewDelhi FLOCK at @wadeindiaasia #NewDelhi Get ready to FLOCK during @wadeindiaasia in September! FLOCK is a crowdsourced Fractals Workshop installation designed and built by the public, for the public. There is no right or wrong, anyone can participate, just grab some interlocking pieces and get flocking! This iteration of FLOCK will be taught by Abeer Fatima (@onlybyabeer), Lead Interior Designer, DesignAware (@designaware). Check out previous versions of FLOCK on @interflock! Checking staircase reinforcement at #RibbonHouse. As the plot is very narrow, every centimeter counts, and it becomes all the more important to follow measurements accurately. The staircase was designed as a folded one to create space underneath for a laundry room. Checking staircase reinforcement at #RibbonHouse. Happy Telangana Formation Day! Here’s how #MidjourneyAI imagines scenes from Telangana! #Repost @space10 #Repost @space10 The true test of architecture is in its use, and how it grows over time. In #RibbonHouse, we planted white flowering clematis vines that would eventually grow as a layer inside the facade and provide a curtain of privacy and texture of white upon white. @asna.moazzam spent six months roaming around the UAE desert, learning about Arish (date palm midrib) architecture and meeting with Bedouin craftswomen who who hold the technical expertise in the disappearing traditional craft of building with Arish. For @dubaidesignweek 2018, we dove deeper into where date palms go after they die, and invited indigenous craftswomen from @sougha__ to co-teach a @fractalsworkshop with @takbirfatima, the first in The Digital Vernacular series. Participants learned how to work with Arish and how natural material can be applied using computational design. The @fractalsworkshop is a generative design, computation and design research workshop conceived by @takbirfatima, that combines logic, geometry, natural systems and structure. The @fractalsworkshop is a generative design, computation and design research workshop conceived by @takbirfatima, that combines logic, geometry, natural systems and structure. The journey of #RibbonHouse began with preserving an existing tree on a tiny site of ~92 sqm, flanked by neighboring houses with shared walls on three sides and a narrow, steeply sloping lane on the fourth. The journey ended with a treasure of experience we gathered during this design-build project, and the establishment of our construction initiative, @buildaware. Nothing accidental about this! #WesAnderson by design at #HilltopSchool
