Hyderabad Urban Hackathon

27th and 28th September, 2014

Long-listed out of 400+ entries // Short-listed out of 80 entries

The Indian School of Business (ISB), in association with the GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation), Government of Telangana, and Cities for All: Metropolis World Congress 2014 invited entries toward concept solutions using Social Innovation with Digital Technology, to be presented at the 11th Metropolis World Congress in Hyderabad.

The proposal was to digitize all Law & Order records and processes in Hyderabad. FirstInfo is a mobile application and web portal which would allow citizens to instantly register an FIR, without the hassle of dealing with police personnel in the first step, and allow the authorities to receive and review reports by citizens virtually.

Out of 400+ entries, DesignAware was long-listed along with 79 other entries in the first round of the Pre-Hackathon, and short-listed along with 29 other teams in the second round.

Though the idea was not selected for the final round at the Hackathon, an initial stage of the proposal was implemented the day after the event: Facebook pages were created for all police stations in Hyderabad and the police began to take complaints online for the first time in India.
