Lightning! A simple railing design for a narrow staircase in a tight space. We like to entrust our fabrication team with design development and suggesting resolutions for problems. In this case, the changing levels of the steps make the overall form parametric. Thank you, @zy5_n for capturing our project #HilltopSchool (aka @brighthorizonacademyin) so beautifully! It’s the children who bring the spaces to life! Evolution // From virtual to 3D paper “sketch” to scaled working model to reality! #Fold has had a five-year journey from its first conception in 2017. We had been playing with paper: creasing, cutting, slitting, folding, pleating, when we started exploring the Miura-ori tessellation method. How can 2D evolve into 3D? How can designed objects be dynamic instead of static and adapt to changing needs? How can we fabricate with zero wastage? How can we design to save space? How can we provide privacy as well as permeability? Fold is our answer to these questions and more. @takbirfatima was invited to deliver the keynote lecture at the launch of the Malappuram subcenter of IIA Calicut on 8th October. It was an inspiring event and we extend our heartiest congratulations and support to the young and dynamic @iia_malappuram, and look forward to seeing some amazing initiatives and to collaborating in the future! DesignAware Director @takbirfatima and Lead Interior Designer @onlybyabeer were interviewed by @phullobegum for the talk show podcast “Let’s Design” by @cindrebay. The conversation covered design awareness and accessibility, working internationally, and and advice for students, especially introverts! #linkinbio The most remarkable thing about #RibbonHouse is its context. Located a stone’s throw away from the Qutb Shahi Tombs, a sprawling 16th century royal mausoleum complex (a beautiful example of Persian architecture), yet in a very tight residential neighborhood dotted with stray tombs, the view from its terrace, of the Tombs and the majestic Golconda Fort, is nothing short of surprising and breathtaking. The dense neighborhood that has grown in and around the Tombs stands in stark contrast to the now-demarcated Qutb Shahi Tombs complex. #RibbonHouse, the Fortress, and the Seven Tombs.
